As I am writing this, rays of sunshine are lighting up my office. Spring is coming up, which means we can get rid of our dull and sober clothing items. It is time to brighten up your wardrobe with vibrant spring shades! I can’t wait to dust off my collection of spring dresses. Spring flowers like purple and pink Hyacinths, bright, yellow Daffodils and tulips all bloom in spring and provide a spectacle of vibrant colors. Nature provides us with a color palette to draw inspiration from. While in winter and autumn we feel inspired by darker shades reflecting autumn leaves, grey skies and earthy soil and in summer we welcome passionate, Mediterranean colors, spring gives us an excuse to go for fresh colors, soft shades or bright floral tones. A collection that really suits the season is one by designer duo Pankaj & Nidhi.
A fashionable love story
Designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi launched their label in 2006. Pankaj met Nidhi while he was working as head of design for one of India’s top designers; Rohit Bal. They soon got married and also joined forces for their very own fashion label. Their label always stands out from the crowd during Indian fashion weeks. Their designs are creative, innovative and a breath of fresh air. They mix contemporary design with cultural elements and often use vibrant colors, bold embroidery and appliqué techniques to liven up their designs. Their collections are very wearable and their use of bright prints and embroidery give their clothing a funky and artistic edge.
Renaissance patterns and appliqué details
I’ve added a few Pankaj & Nidhi designs to the gallery which I feel are a perfect addition to your spring wardrobe. My favorite ensemble is a bright yellow appliqué jacket combined with a crisp white, mini-skirt; preppy meets sexy. Another favorite is a short skater-style dress decorated with a bright colored renaissance pattern. Combine it with a pair of strappy heeled sandals and your ready to hit the town. Also, this spring you can’t go without a little blue, so make sure to look out for outfits in different shades of blue. The white, appliqué jacket-dress looks amazing, very plain and simple color wise, but trés chic!
Make sure you look up Pankaj & Nidhi online to see more of their work, their innovative use of color and embroidery brings a smile to my face.
